The poles that came with the WilderNest were somewhat unique in that they fit into the brackets on the lid. Otherwise they are just aluminum poles, collapsed about 4 feet long and extend to about 6 feet and remain stable. Their purpose was primarily to stabilize the camper from rocking and not as support of any weight. The camper will self support through the cables and frame inside. The hole in the shoulder of the pole is designed for a clip to keep the pole from coming out should the 'Nest get really rocking!

We've had success finding close replacements poles that did not require machine work to neck down, although this is possible to replicate.

The hose clamp originally had a plastic tab that was used to tighten and loosen without tools, however those rarely go the distance before breaking and often a screwdriver is required to snug the clamp. The clamp snugs down on the upper section, which is small in diameter and sits against the lower section when extended.
